Chancellor's Commonwealth Professorship
The Chancellor’s Commonwealth Professorship program was established in 1989 to recognize and support teaching excellence in Virginia’s Community Colleges.
Chancellor's Commonwealth Professors receiving funding for reimbursable expenses and stipends for two summers to pursue a self-directed project. Individuals selected for Professorships also receive reassigned time equivalent to two courses (normally six semester hours) during each academic year of their tenure.

The full application process requires submission of this form, including a letter of nomination from the college president, vice-president, or provost; itemized budget spreadsheet; application narrative; resume or curriculum vitae; and signature sheet.

Concise, complete, and correct applications provide reviewers with an efficiency and effectiveness in determining the merits of each proposal and comparing each to determine funding priorities; allow reviewers to be able to readily assess proposals that are developed and designed to best achieve targeted objectives; and ensure that limited resources are allocated to those proposals that will have the greatest impact on the VCCS and the success of its students.
