Speaker:

Amy Anderson, Esq.: JD, BA, RYT-200, MYT-100 began teaching law and legal studies courses with Thomas Nelson Community College in 2007 as an adjunct, and has since taught and designed both online and traditional lecture courses for universities and colleges locally and nationally. She joined TNCC full-time in 2015. Amy also began leading yoga and meditation classes in 2015 as a Yoga Alliance 200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher. She was nominated as Health Promoter of the Year 2017 by the Greater Williamburg Chamber & Tourism Alliance for her involvement in the community facilitating mindful movement in under-served populations, including her volunteer work as a senior chair yoga instructor in partnership with the Peninsula Agency on Aging. In 2017, she completed additional training in adaptive yoga and 100-hour certification in Mindful Yoga Therapy for Veterans with PTSD in order to work with populations who experience chronic pain or who are recovering from physical, mental, or spiritual trauma or injury. Amy is currently halfway through advanced yoga teacher training toward her 500-hour certification. Her work as both a TNCC professor and yoga instructor have been featured in multiple magazine and internet articles, and she continues to explore ways to bring stress management tools and compassion to both her on- and off-campus students, fellow faculty, and community-at-large.
