The VCCS eLET (e-Learning and educational technologies) committee is pleased to offer a series of webinar workshops focused on learning Canvas and Zoom. Each webinar will focus on a specific Canvas or EdTech topic (such as Zoom). These sessions will offer a few hands-on activities where participants can practice what they learn.

All webinars are from 7:00-8:00 p.m.

February 12:  Let's Get Together in Groups
Do you want to create a place where students can work in groups? Come to this session to see how to create those groups, create assignments for the groups, how to grade them and the tools they have available in each group.

February 13:  Ways to Support Learning Using the Canvas App
By surveying the faculty and students on their use of the Canvas app, LFCC discovered that although students were expecting content to be mobile-friendly, often there was a disconnect between the way the course was designed, the instructor’s level of confidence in their own digital competencies, and the student’s use of the app. From these findings, we launched a mini-series on designing for mobile learning.

February 18:  Increasing Assessment Functionality in New Quizzes
Join us to discuss the additional questions and features of New Quizzes. See how visual content can be seamlessly added to your assessment, the question types only available in New Quizzes, and assessment settings only available in the new tool.

February 19:  Using G Suite in Canvas
Come to this session to learn how to use G Suite Integration in Canvas.  We will show you how to set up a Google Doc as your Syllabus, Google Sheets for Attendance, and Google Slides for presenting in Canvas.  We will also show you how to connect your VCCS Google Drive with your Canvas Courses.

February 20:  LMS Best Practices in All Modalities
ASAC and eLET collaborated and produced a document of what is recommended usage in Canvas for Face-to-Face, Hybrid, and Online courses.  The session will start with the minimum recommendations for all courses and move to those that are completely online.  We will look at adding an Announcement, Instructor Bio, Contact information and Office hours, and plan for interaction.  We will also review the Syllabus tool and how to add one. The final minimum component is the Grades area. We will take a look at how grades can be added to Canvas for students to use to keep track of their progress.  The remainder of the session will be the other recommended elements for hybrid and online courses.
