The VCCS eLET (e-Learning and educational technologies) committee is pleased to offer a series of webinar workshops focused on learning Canvas and Zoom. Each webinar will focus on a specific Canvas or EdTech topic (such as Zoom). These sessions will offer a few hands-on activities where participants can practice what they learn.

Course Continuity using Modules

Are your students confused about where to find their course work? Using modules to create a one-directional flow in a course will alleviate confusion and put the students on a path to succeed in your course. We will discuss different elements that you can use in your course modules such as weeks, units, or chapters to set-up your Canvas course to mirror your class assignment schedule. Among other topics, we will cover creating prerequisites and requirements, as well as creating manageable learning chunks. Using Hoonuit in Canvas

In this session, we’ll go over how you can utilize Zoom to facilitate effective and collaborative virtual class meetings with features like whiteboarding, sharing documents and files, polling, and breakout rooms. Plus, with the ability to integrate Zoom into any Canvas course, your students will never have to guess how to join the meeting again!

Modules, Pages, and Content, Oh My!

We will examine the use of Modules to organize your course content. Analyze when and how to use Pages within your course. Rubrics in Canvas: How to Create and Use Canvas Rubrics

In this session, participants will learn how to create rubrics in Canvas and how to use rubrics for grading in Speedgrader.

Canvas Studio and Powerpoint
