Welcome to the VCCS Office of Professional Development!
Our goal is to support the development of faculty, staff, and administrators to achieve the mission of Virginia’s Community Colleges. With more than 6,500 full-time and nearly 14,000 part-time employees, across 23 colleges, the system office, and the shared services center, there is no shortage of needs in supporting these professionals (FT faculty, adjuncts, administrators, classified staff, wage …) to ensure we are all pulling together in support of our students from connection to completion.
You will find numerous opportunities for personal and collaborative learning, as well as in person and online facilitated training through Peer Groups, the Regional Centers for Teaching Excellence, New Horizons and webinars. In addition, faculty, staff, and administrators may participate in leadership academies, competitive grants, scholarships and awards, and submit scholarly works to be published in our faculty journal. Our goal remains aligned with ensuring that all employees of the VCCS have the support they need to fulfill our mission, …giving everyone the opportunity to learn and develop the right skills!
We give everyone the opportunity to learn and develop the
right skills so lives and communities are strengthened.VCCS Mission Statement

The Chancellor’s Leadership Academy (CLA) for faculty, staff and administration targets making the connection between theoretical leadership skills and qualities, and the practical application of those skills. One attendee from each college, the system office, and the shared services center is nominated by senior leadership and chosen to attend.
